Bill Bedford 5'6" freight bogie

by Ted Scannell

Designed for the many 5'6" freight bogie vehicles used over a long time and over all regions of the British system, incorporating similar dynamics to the real thing. The stretchers holding the sides together allow for some primary equalisation, acting in the same way as a torsion bar. The spring wires, 12 thou guitar string in this instance, provide secondary springing in the same way as the coils between the frames and bolster in the prototype.
